Vitamin E – Bewährtes natürliches Antioxidans

Vitamin E ist die Sammelbezeichnung für eine Gruppe von Verbindungen, die als Tocopherole bezeichnet werden und für ihre antioxidative Wirkung bekannt sind. In kosmetischen Formulierungen erfüllt Vitamin E eine doppelte Funktion: Es schützt oxidationsempfindliche Öle und Inhaltsstoffe innerhalb der Formulierung vor oxidativem Abbau und Ranzigwerden, wodurch die Frische des Produkts länger erhalten bleibt, und trägt gleichzeitig zum antioxidativen Schutz der Haut bei.

Das Vitamin E von Ellemental ist eine standardisierte Mischung aus Tocopherolen pflanzlichen Ursprungs, die aus einem Nebenstrom der Pflanzenölverarbeitung gewonnen und in biologischem Sonnenblumenöl stabilisiert wird. Das Profil ist reich an Gamma- und Delta-Tocopherol, Formen, die sich in Labortests als deutlich wirksamere Antioxidantien erwiesen haben als das häufig verwendete Alpha-Tocopherol.

Nach Angaben des Herstellers zeigte das Tocopherolprofil dieser Mischung, das reich an Gamma- und Delta-Tocopherol ist, in vergleichenden Prüfungen der Oxidationsstabilität, darunter beschleunigte Oxipres- und Rancimat-Tests, eine höhere antioxidative Wirksamkeit als Alpha-Tocopherol, die am häufigsten in herkömmlichen Vitamin-E-Produkten enthaltene Form. Die antioxidative Wirksamkeit variiert je nach Art des Öls, in das Vitamin E eingearbeitet wird.
